We can only say what a difficult job it is to try and pick out a few pieces of writing from such a wide selection and variety of styles. It, as always, has been interesting to read the entries and get a glimpse into what you all have to say about the wonderful world of animals. This has been a challenge that has stimulated us all into thinking deeply about our relationship and responsibility towards the planet and our animal friends.
Agnes Bank's inspiring poem, with such vivid imagery and imaginative descriptions, is an excellent reminder that the kingdom belongs to animals and not to us. This is very appropriate as we are in a global climate crisis and so many species are disappearing due to human activity. Dan Coyle's story about the wonderful dogs he has had throughout his life also made us cry as it is written from the heart. Jane and I are dog lovers so this story resonated with us as did Michael Morgan remembering his wonderful dog Paley. 'Black Swans' by Fiona Lemonts was an atmospheric and captivating story, we also really enjoyed “The Tiger in the Drawing” by Jamie Brooke and Branka Kringas has such an attentive eye on all that surrounds her.
